DCFooty Kids kicked off the 2008 season with a free clinic at Bluemont Park (Arlington VA) on Saturday April 26. The clinic was part of the First Annual FitArlington Sports Festival. The clinic started with the coaches going through some skills including handball, kicking and catching. Then the boys and girls were split into groups for some skill-games. The session ended with the Junior Eagles taking on the Junior Blues.
The FitArlington Sports Festival was organized by Arlington Sports and Rec's Eric Legg and included many different youth and adult sports offering clinics and demonstrations during the day. DCFooty Kids and the Baltimore Washington Eagles are greatful to FitArlington for hosting and running this event. A number of the Eagles coaches and players came out to help. DCFooty Kids is very grateful to those that helped with the clinics. DCFooty Kids in particular wants to recognize Jay Levesque and RJ Wheelock who were recently named to US Revolution squad to represent the USA at the AFL International Cup in Melbourne in August. RJ and Jay are pictured coaching the Junior Eagles before the big game.
In the game, while the Eagles had some great play, including a nice snap goal from CJ, excellent ball movement from Noah, great play by Luca on the wing and some great defense by Robbie, the Blues led all game. Cullen did some great work for the Blues. He was helped by some excellent team work from Noah, Ameen, Yasmeen and great roving by Zach.
